Rabbit Proof Fence

The installment of a flying fox and planting of trees is one part of developing Kalannie's townscape.

Another element was adding a reconstruction of the Rabbit Proof Fence to showcase a well known historic landmark to the area. Kalannie is the closest town to the Rabbit Proof Fence and is well known for not only keeping the rabbits out of the agricultural areas. But also for the story of the journey home to Jigalong by three young Indigenous girls during the era of the stolen generation. Their amazing story was made into a film called, Rabbit Proof Fence.
